more birthday fun

As you can see from my previous post, our day started out so fun with pancakes and candles.  But the fun did not stop there.  We packed up the car with all of our old bread that we had been saving for months and went to Cameron Park to feed the ducks.

But before we could leave the house, the birthday boy was stung by a bee. What are the chances of getting stung by a bee??? Let alone it be on your birthday.

His toe didn't swell up that much but I could tell it was really painful.

Dermoplast, lavender and boo boo buddy to the rescue.

Have you ever used Dermoplast before?  It is good stuff!

And then we mentioned getting a popsicle and he almost cracked a full smile.
And by the way, he wore this santa hat a good portion of the day.

Samuel was really happy about the popsicle too.

After all of the drama we finally got in the car to go to the park.

The boys lost interest pretty quickly because it was really difficult getting the ducks to come over to us. But it was fun while it lasted.

Next we went over to the playground.

Samuel follows Matthew everywhere and wants to do everything he does.

I know this is a post about Matthew, but I just couldn't resist this picture of Samuel. He is so beautiful.

...and the cape just kills me.

For dinner at the birthday boy's request, we went to Wendy's.

This is the face he gave me when I asked him if he was happy.

All day long he asked when he was going to get to eat his "birthday".  I finally figured out he was talking about a cake which I had not planned to make.  I was already making one for the party and thought we would just wait until then to have cake.  But he was really disappointed that he was not getting cake on his birthday.  So on the way home from Wendy's, we made a pit stop at H-E-B to buy him one.

This is what he picked out.

 Oscar the Grouch

...and this is how happy he was.

...and silly!

And why use a fork?

And then it was present time.

We played with balloons for awhile before we opened presents.

After they got tired of the balloons, which took awhile, we opened presents.

He got all kinds of puzzles and a soccer ball and some games.  But I think he was most excited about the bag of miscellaneous candy and band aids that he opened.

Who knew getting a bottle of orange tic tacs would be so exciting?

Over all, it was a happy full day and we were all very tired at the end.
