We're going on an egg hunt!

This year we died Easter eggs for the first time.  Matthew was very excited even though I don't think he knew what we were doing.  We only managed to break one egg.  Amazing!

It had gotten dark outside so we decided to go ahead and dye them inside.  Patrick thought I was very brave to attempt this project in the dining room.

 Look at my blue hands!

The eggs turned out so colorful.  We used the vinegar method.

It was not easy getting Matthew to smile in these pictures.  He does not pose for the camera. I can't remember what we were talking about to make him smile so big.

This year we weren't sneaky enough and Matthew saw me hiding the eggs outside.  So he already knew where some of them were.  When he finally got to go outside he was so excited.

He knew there was candy in them so it was hard to keep him on task.  I don't think he ended up finding all of the eggs.  Maybe we hid too many?!

This year I am so thankful that our family has grown.  Now we have two sweet boys to teach about Jesus. How awesome that we have a Savior that died and now lives for us and in us.  He is the glue that hold us together.

Are you wondering where Samuel is?

Well...he was sleeping while we colored eggs and during the hunt.  It made dying the eggs much easier.  But we took plenty of pictures of him too.  I will post those soon.

Samuel {4 months}

You are actually 5 months old today but I am just getting around to posting your 4 month old pictures.

Dear Samuel,

This month you are all things feet and all things mouth.  You love to take your pacie in and out of your mouth and play with it.  Your feet are fascinating to you as well.  One day while I was eating a banana you pulled it to your mouth and started gnawing on it.  I was watching Matthew playing outside so I didn't even notice that you had grabbed it.  When I took it away, you reached for it with both hands to get some more.  I guess you are going to like bananas.

I think you are teething too.  You are very slobbery and chew on everything. Thank goodness for Sophie.  She is our best friend.

You are working very hard to crawl and can sit up by yourself some also. You are such a strong baby.  You continue to give us a hard time at night though. Maybe you will sleep all night in your 5th month of life. Mommy and Daddy are very tired.

You love your brother and are always happy when he is nearby.  He brings you toys and puts (shoves) your pacifier back in your mouth.  You are very distracted when I nurse you if he is in the room.  It is much more fun to watch him jump, play, and make noise than focus on eating.  I understand though because I think he is great too!

We took a long trip to Corpus Christi this month and decided to take you out of the carrier and put you in a big stationary car seat.  You don't like being in your car seat and normally cry when you are not asleep.  We thought the bigger car seat would help.  Boy were we wrong.  I guess you just don't like riding in the car.  We are hoping that will get better with time.  It is very hard on a mommy when she can't comfort her baby when he is upset.

As alway, I love you!!

captured beauty

What is beauty?

I am sure that we all have different ideas of what beauty is.  Beauty is found in many places, things, people. Here are a few definitions I found for beauty.

Webster's says:
the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.
Wikipedia says:
Beauty (also called prettiness, loveliness, or comeliness) is a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction.
Song of Soloman  4:7
You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.

After a photo session with my sweet baby Samuel, I no longer questioned the definition of beauty.

Words fail me!
Thank you Lord for creating Samuel and giving him to us to treasure.

My dear Samuel,

You are beautiful!
We are delighted to have you in our life!

Love, Mommy
